During the course of my research I have come across a lot of discussion about the merits and demerits of the English landowning system just before the First World War broke out.

Critics tend to base their arguments on the performance of, for example, the Danes and the Germans.

Does anybody know if this comparison has ever been done by modern European historians? It would be nice to know if any Danish or other historian has written about the strengths/weaknesses of Danish agriculture in the years before 1914 compared to Britain. I have read Avner Offer's book but I would like some more views.
