In Shropshire dotterell and variant spellings. Usually assumed to be dead mature trees, perhaps veteran pollards.

Not least for its delightful pictures, H. Edlin, 'Woodland Crafts in Britain' (1949) is always worth looking at for traditional woodland.

It's not a lawyerly response, but this is a pro bono, non-profit, publication. I'd just come up with a generic acknowledgement to Stamp/Clark/LUS. No one's going to sue your bottom off, as our American friends would say.
